Car accidents involving bicycles may prove fatal in Arizona

A man’s life was sadly cut short in a recent motor vehicle collision in Arizona. The crash involved a car and a bicycle, which the man was riding. These types of car accidents can easily occur due to a driver’s negligence, in which case, the driver may be held financially responsible for any injuries and/or deaths resulting from the accident.

The recent Arizona collision occurred at a little before 6:30 p.m. on a Wednesday. Authorities said that when they arrived at the accident scene they discovered that a man riding a bike had been hit by a car. They pronounced the man deceased at the crash scene.

Police said it did not appear that impairment was a causal factor in the collision. Speeding also did not appear to have contributed to the accident. Authorities said the driver of the car did remain at the crash scene following the wreck.

If further police investigation indicates that the driver of the car caused the accident due to careless behavior, such as texting while driving, the surviving family members of the deceased bicyclist may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the car driver, seeking damages. Competent proof of negligence is required to establish liability before the civil court hearing the case in Arizona. After liability has been established, a judge will decide damage claims. Monetary compensation in a successfully fought car accident case may help to cover funeral costs, the loss of income for surviving dependents and other expenses resulting from these types of car accidents.
