Pedestrian killed after being struck by a truck

Many people know to be cautious of car accidents when they are operating a vehicle. Collisions between vehicles are all too common in Arizona and around the nation. However, car passengers and drivers aren’t the only people that can be hurt because of a crash. Pedestrians are often at risk, too. A recent fatal pedestrian accident underscores the fact that the consequences of a car crash can be far-reaching.

Local police say that a 53-year-old woman was killed on a recent evening in Phoenix while she was close to an intersection. An eastbound car attempted to make a left turn and struck a truck, forcing it off the street and onto the sidewalk. The woman was walking on the sidewalk when she was hit. Firefighters rushed her to a nearby hospital, but she was pronounced dead there.

Criminal charges have not been filed in connection with this fatality. Authorities have also stated that they do not believe impairment factored into the crash. Presumably, officials continue to investigate the tragedy.

One or both drivers could be facing a civil claim. The family of the victim may decide to file a wrongful death claim against any party or parties believed responsible for the deadly wreck. Doing so could result in financial compensation that may help the victim’s loved ones cover any expenses that have resulted from the incident. Families in Arizona may wish to consult an experienced attorney if they find themselves facing a similar situation after the death of a pedestrian.
